Information

We will be doing book presentations, which will be due on Friday in 3 weeks if the book is under 50 pages, due on Friday in 4 weeks if the book is 50 to 100 pages, and over 100 pages due on Friday in 5 weeks. If you have any trouble with this schedule, please let me know immediately, and we can make adjustments. If your presentation is finished earlier than expected, you are able to present it sooner, if you wish. The books are selected only from my collection in the classroom.

The presentation is as follows:

1. A written report with at least 10 sentences (fiction: include genre, important plot details, setting, description of main character, theme, and recommendation; nonfiction: include genre, information you learned and how you feel about those facts, and recommendation). If it is a fiction book, it needs to be done in the present tense. This must be on lined paper on one side only. Please use alternate lines. Starting January 22nd, all of this section of your presentation must be in cursive handwriting. No computer generated text will be accepted.

2. A drawing appropriate to your book selection. This must be done on unlined paper with a caption one sentence long explaining your picture. You may use paints, colored pencils, crayons, or any other appropriate medium. If you need paper, I will be happy to supply it for you.

3. An activity to go with the book is on the next web page. You need to do at least one activity, but may do more if you wish. If a paragraph is your activity, it must be at least ten sentences long. If a survey or graph is your activity, it must be completed before the day of your presentation. If a play is your activity, it must be organized and rehearsed before the day of your presentation. If you need me to make copies of your script, survey, graph, or anything else, please give me the original to be copied at least a day ahead of your presentation day.

4. You will present all of your work to the class orally on Fridays.

5. Please staple all the work with the cover sheet on top in the upper left corner. The activity may not need to be stapled, depending on your choice of activity. Please fill out the cover sheet completely.

6. You will write a 5 to 7 sentence review on the internet about your book.

Hope you enjoy this assignment. Happy reading!
